Tomb Raider Movies: From Game To The Big Screen

Now this is some hot stuff! And it is not just sexy, because this one packs in a lot of high flying and bomb exploding action! And who else could it be but the infamous Lara Croft. The blockbuster movie Tomb Raider would be for nothing if not for this super gorgeous female action hero.

But the fame of the Tomb Raider name did not start out in the big silver screen. The legend was conceived years before through Sony’s game console the Playstation. The game introduced into players a new type of game play that is packed with action and heavy armaments, and this quickly won the hearts of many.

This fame was soon followed by sequels under the same title, and later on, a movie. The first big screen film carrying the name was released way back 2001. It was titled Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. And unlike other game-to-movie converted titles which failed horribly, this one was a sensational worldwide hit!

The plot of the first story revolved around a lost relic which can supposedly control and distort time and space. And to be faithful to the original title, the scenes involved a lot of ancient elements and explorations to uncharted and undiscovered ruins.

And because no story is complete without the bad guys, an ancient organization called the Illuminati is there to stop Lara Croft and steal the relic from her to be used for evil deeds. The plot twists more and the result is an epic storyline that is to die for.

And to follow up the thirst which the first movie has awoken to the masses, the developers were quick to release a second movie titled Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life. There are still the ancient ruins and tomb raiding elements but the plot this time around focused on the lost relic called Pandoras Box.

And that about sums up the success of the Tomb Raider name. This however does not seem to be the end of it as a third installment is impending.
